Nick Nolte
Actor
Nick Nolte got a late start in the movies, making his mark at age 35 in the 1976 TV mini-series Rich Man, Poor Man. He had a box office hit in 1982 opposite Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours, but his turbulent off-screen life seemed to occupy his energies. In spite of a spotty filmography, Nolte is considered a talented character actor and leading man. In 1991 he was nominated for an Oscar for his work in The Prince of Tides (with Barbra Streisand). In 1995 he surprised many people by playing a former president in the film Jefferson in Paris. His other films include Affliction (1997, with James Coburn and Sissy Spacek), The Thin Red Line (1998, with John Cusack and Jim Caviezel) and The Good Thief (2003).Extra credit: Some sources put Nolte's birth year as 1940.
