Into Dorkness

Celebrate the new Star Trek movie by getting a glimpse behind the scenes.

Star Trek: Into Darkness opened yesterday across the U.S., the second of the J.J. Abrams take on Gene Roddenberry‘s original 1960s TV show. The movie stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana. If you’ve been to the movies in the last few months, you’ve already seen this trailer:

Or maybe one just like it. It has enough scenes to get you excited about Captain Kirk and the Enterprise gang saving the planet and/or universe from that evil guy who played Sherlock Holmes on TV, the British actor Cumbersome Bandersnatch (or whatever).

It looks like they jump off of tall things a lot.

If you’re really into the whole movie-making part of it, check out this behind the scenes “b-roll” video:

It steals a little of the magic from the fantasy world of Star Trek, seeing these guys pretending in front of green screens and surrounded by baseball caps and tee-shirts. It also makes me think that movie acting must be really hard. As in, how do you do all that stuff and say those lines without feeling like a complete dork?
